After soliciting feedback from friends and family...
It yielded a common response - lutefisk-scented candles might not win any aroma awards, but they sure would make for memorable gifts, trigger Midwestern nostalgia or spark a good laugh at the next family get together.
So, I ran with the idea. The first step was learning how to actually replicate a smell and turn it into a candle.
After several stops and starts, I connected with a scent manufacturer who helped bring my idea to life. The result? I created the world's very first lutefisk-scented candle!
The response since then has been astounding
Since officially hitting shelves in August 2023, Uff Da Candles have flown off them, finding homes worldwide, including Canada, Norway, and most notably, all 50 states.
We’ve also set up shop with wholesalers, landed national media placements, and expanded our scent repertoire beyond fishiness
